The OTR Driver is responsible for hauling all freight assigned by dispatch that may include several short hauls or all long hauls or a combination of both. The Driver is required to stay out for a minimum of 14 – 21 days then be home for (1) one day for each week (7 days) spent out.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Hauling all freight assigned by dispatch which could be all short hauls or all long hauls or a combination of both.
- Maintaining proper electronic logs.
- Abiding by all FMCSA and DOT regulations.
- Must be able to comply with all FMCSA regulations.
- Flexible schedule with ability to stay in truck 14-21 days at a time.
Education and Experience:
- 3 years previous professional driving experience.
- Valid and current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with non-hazmat tanker endorsement.
- Proficient at driving, maneuvering, and parking large vehicles.
- Good driving record according to industry standards.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift, push and pull up to 75lbs.
- Stand/walk on surfaces such as concrete, wood, metal, and sometimes on slippery and wet surfaces.
- Ability to shift a manual transmission and operate foot pedals.
- Occasionally reach above shoulder level, at waist level, and below waist level for maneuvering to operate the truck.
- Climb up trailer ladder to vent dome.
- Ability to enter and exit the vehicle’s cab eight to ten times per day.
- Ability to hook/unhook commercial vehicle to tanker, manually lower and raise landing gear, operate the fifth wheel, release lever, lock, and pintle-hooks, climb in and out of the vehicle, fuel vehicles and check engine oil and coolant levels, hook and unhook hoses to tanker and climb ladder to open dome lid.
