Job summary

Tech Mahindra in Fremont, California is seeking an RF Test Engineer to join an onsite team at the customer location, focusing on RF testing for wireless devices and 5G NR validation.

You will execute RF test plans, analyze results, and report findings using CSV and Tableau, collaborating with hardware and software teams.

The role requires strong hands-on RF testing experience, familiarity with 5G bands, and the ability to work independently after training.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on RF testing, wireless device validation, or cellular modem testing.
• 5G NR SA knowledge, including FDD and TDD bands.
• Experience with Reference Sensitivity Testing and RF benchmarking.
• Familiarity with test equipment such as R&S, Keysight, Anritsu.
• Ability to work with RF automation tools and execute algorithm-driven test flows.
• Understanding of 3GPP TS 38-521-1 test methodology, especially sensitivity-related conditions.
• Experience with RF parameters: bandwidth, SCS, ARFCN, power class, MCS.
• Ability to analyze RF test results and correlate data across test platforms.
• Experience with data reporting formats (CSV) and Tableau.

Responsibilities

• Deliver band-by-band RF test results across test platforms.
• Provide test-case correlation data for 3GPP configurations.
• Prepare discrepancy reports highlighting gaps observed during testing.
• Submit results in CSV or Tableau format as agreed with the project team.
• Provide regular status updates with Customer and DRIs.

Job Title: RF Test Engineer

Location: Fremont

Onsite/ Remote: Day 1 Onsite at customer location

The pay range for this role is $90k- $115k per annum including any bonuses or variable pay. Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience in RF testing, wireless device validation, or cellular modem testing.
• Practical understanding of 5G NR SA, including FDD and TDD bands.
• Experience with Reference Sensitivity Testing and RF performance benchmarking.
• Familiarity with R&S, Keysight, Anritsu or equivalent cellular network simulators/test platforms.
• Ability to work with RF automation tools and execute algorithm-driven test flows.
• Understanding of 3GPP TS 38-521-1 test methodology, especially sensitivity-related test conditions.
• Experience working with RF parameters such as bandwidth, SCS, ARFCN, power class, MCS, Rx chain configuration, and transmission mode.
• Ability to analyze RF test results and identify correlation or discrepancies between test platforms.
• Working knowledge of data reporting formats such as CSV and dashboard/reporting tools such as Tableau.

Preferred Skills

• Prior experience supporting Customer or similar high-compliance product validation environments.
• Experience in conducted RF testing using shielded environments.
• Experience creating test matrices across bands, bandwidths, and radio configurations.
• Ability to validate vendor-provided automation test lists and cross-check them against 3GPP specifications.
• Strong documentation, issue tracking, and technical communication skills.
• Ability to work independently after project-specific training.

Deliverables

• Band-by-band RF test results comparing Test platforms.
• Test case-level correlation data across applicable 3GPP-based configurations.
• Discrepancy reports highlighting gaps or issues observed during testing.
• Results in CSV or Tableau format, as agreed with the project team.
• Regular status updates through weekly meetings and email follow-ups with Customer and Tech Mahindra DRIs.

Experience and Education

Recommended JD

Experience: 5 7 years in RF testing, cellular modem validation, 5G NR validation, wireless device testing, or telecom productization testing.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
