Job summary

SMC in Noblesville, Indiana, is seeking an OT Network Administrator to support the Operations Division by managing OT/IT infrastructure across manufacturing and warehouse facilities.

You will liaise between OT operations and IT teams, review network technologies, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate changes to AD, backups, firewalls, switches, SQL servers, and VMware to minimize production impact. This role also involves hands-on maintenance of HMI/PLC/SCADA systems and requires on-call readiness.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Computer Science or IT, or equivalent work experience.
• Understanding of ITSM Principles or ITIL4 Foundations.
• Proficient knowledge of operating systems, network systems and IT architecture.
• Experience with Windows systems administration.
• Experience with VMWare, vSphere environments.
• Familiarity with DMZs, firewalls, DNS, IPAM, NTP, and VPN concepts.

Responsibilities

• Assist with managing, maintaining, and supporting the OT/IT network infrastructure and related components.
• Act as liaison between the SMC Operational Division and IT teams.
• Review and recommend network-related hardware and software technologies, designs, and services.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network, application, and system issues.
• Coordinate changes to IT processes and systems (AD, backups, firewalls, switches, SQL servers, VMware) to minimize production impact.
• Support current and legacy computer systems in OT environment.
• Respond to equipment downtime issues and coordinate outside resources as needed.
• Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without interrupting production.
• Support technologies such as HMI, PLC, and SCADA.
• Other duties as assigned.

PURPOSE

The OT Network Administrator will support the Operations Division (Manufacturing and Warehousing) by managing the OT/IT infrastructure throughout the manufacturing and warehouse distribution facilities.

Essential Duties

• Assist with managing, maintaining, and supporting the OT/IT network infrastructure and related components
• Act as liaison between the SMC Operational Division and IT teams
• Review and recommend network-related hardware and software technologies, designs, and services
• Troubleshoot and resolve network, application, and system issues
• Coordinate changes to IT processes & systems (examples, Active Directory, backups, firewalls, network switches, software applications, SQL servers, VMWare environment) to minimize operational impact
• Support current and legacy computer systems in OT environment
• Respond to equipment downtime issues in the plant and establish any required outside resources to assist in responding to issues quickly
• Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without interruption of production
• Support a variety of technologies such as human-machine interfaces (HMI), programmable logic controllers (PLC), and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA)
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

• Associate degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or relevant work experience
• 1+ years of relevant related experience in a similar role
• Basic understanding of ITSM Principles or ITIL4 Foundations certification
• Must have proficient knowledge of operating systems, network systems, and IT architecture

• Understanding of network threats and appropriate mitigation techniques
