Job summary

Moderna is seeking an Operational Technology Response Engineer to strengthen enterprise defense and incident response across OT environments. You will join the Cybersecurity Incident Response team, balancing cyber containment with operational continuity to protect critical manufacturing systems.

The role requires 6+ years in cybersecurity or IT with OT/ICS knowledge, hands-on Splunk ES, Defender, and CrowdStrike Falcon experience, and collaboration with OT/IT teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related discipline.
  • 6+ years of experience in cybersecurity, software engineering, and/or IT with threat detection, detections engineering, response, or threat hunting.
  • Hands-on expertise in Splunk Enterprise Security (ES), Defender, and CrowdStrike Falcon.
  • Knowledge of OT/ICS environments, manufacturing networks, equipment connectivity and operational constraints in these environments.
  • Understanding of cloud security architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern detection telemetry.
  • Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK, NIST, and CIS frameworks for threat mapping and control alignment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead incident response activities across OT and IT environments, coordinating containment and recovery.
  • Investigate security alerts related to malware, endpoint threats, identity-based attacks, etc.
  • Perform hands-on analysis using Splunk ES, Defender, and CrowdStrike Falcon.
  • Assess regulatory concerns in OT environments and ensure compliant response.
  • Coordinate across cybersecurity, OT, and IT teams for rapid containment.
  • Communicate findings and business impact clearly to stakeholders.

The Role:

Moderna is seeking an Operational Technology (OT) Response Engineerto strengthen our enterprise defense andincident responsecapabilitieswith afocus on protecting and responding to threats across OT environments.This rolebrings together incident responseexpertiseandOTCybersecurity,centeredon protecting the systems thatmonitor, control, and support critical manufacturing operations.Thispositionwill sit on theCybersecurityIncident Response team and collaborate acrossCybersecurity teams and OT-related teamsall whilesupportingcontainment and responseactions that account for the unique constraints of industrial systems.The idealcandidatewill combine incident responseexpertisewith a deep technical understanding of OT environmentsand OT-specific threats. They will be skilled at balancing cyberincidentswith operationalcontinuityin mind, ensuring that response activities are practical,timelyand aligned with theappropriate cross-functionalpartnersto help keep Moderna secure.

Here’s What You’ll Do
Incident Response & Investigation
  • Strong understanding of incident response processes, including triage, containment, eradication,recoveryand post-incidentreview.
  • Experience investigating security alerts, related to malware, endpoint threats,identitybasedattacks, etc.
  • Hands‑on experience with security tools such as Splunk SIEM, Nozomi, CrowdStrike Falcon
  • Understanding of regulatory concerns in an OT environment
  • Experience coordinating response efforts across multiple teams, like cybersecurity, OT, and IT teams
  • Strong communicationskills, with the ability to clearly summarize technical findings, business impact,and necessaryresponse actions
  • Knowledge of OT-specific threats
  • Comfortable investigating security events by analyzing alerts and digging into logs about network traffic and system behavior
Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)
  • Bachelor’s orMaster’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, ora relateddiscipline.
  • 6+yearsof experience incybersecurity, software engineering, and/orIT withsubject matterexpertiseinareassuch asthreat detection,detectionsengineering,response, or threat hunting.

The salary range for this role is $145,900.00 - $234,200.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An individual’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and business or organizational needs.

The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, other incentive compensation, or equity award, subject to company plan eligibility criteria and individual performance.
