Job summary

St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid, OK is hiring a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for a full-time position.

You will implement therapy services under supervision, document patient progress, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to optimize outcomes for diverse patient populations. The role requires an Associate degree in OTA, Oklahoma licensure eligibility, BLS, and strong communication and computer skills.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant required.
• Eligible for or holds current Occupational Therapy Assistant licensure to practice in Oklahoma required.
• BLS certification required.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Typing and basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Implements patient care in a knowledgeable and skillful manner, maintaining a high quality of work performance in all areas.
• Demonstrates the ability to provide the proper assistance, verbal cueing, and etc. necessary for optimal performance.
• Instructs patients and/or caregivers in treatment procedures, home programs and adaptive or special equipment using clear verbal and/or written instructions.
• Effectively and efficiently document patient performance in the medical record per policy and regulatory guidelines.
• Communicates with multidisciplinary team members regarding patient’s condition.
• Communicates with OT regarding patient’s performance, changes in medical condition, goal attainment, etc.
• Demonstrates competence in preparing and use of equipment for patient care (examples: adaptive and assistive devices, Pt lift devices, gait belts, orthotics, prosthetics, etc.).
• Demonstrates ability to clean equipment according to hospital and dept. policy/procedures. Store equipment appropriately.
• Problem identification/resolution in decision making and timely communication of issues.
• Responds effectively to stressful/emergency situations per policies and documentation.
• Knowledge of isolation and biohazard techniques and PPE locations.
• Ongoing care of pediatric to geriatric patients in Occupational Therapy as evidenced by assessments.
• Demonstrates safe transfers with patient assistance and use of lift devices/gaits belts.
