Job summary

St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Enid, OK is seeking a COTA to join our rehabilitation team on a PRN basis. You will implement occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed OT and maintain thorough documentation.

This role focuses on diverse patient populations, ensuring high-quality care, proper patient transfer techniques, and collaboration with multidisciplinary staff to support recovery and independent living skills.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant required.
• Eligible for or holds current Occupational Therapy Assistant licensure to practice in State of Oklahoma required.
• BLS certification required.
• Previous experience preferred.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Typing and basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Implements patient care in a knowledgeable and skillful manner, maintaining a high quality of work performance in all areas.
• Demonstrates ability to provide proper assistance, verbal cueing, and etc. necessary for optimal performance.
• Instructs patients and/or caregivers in treatment procedures, home programs and adaptives using clear instructions.
• Documents patient performance in the medical record per policy and regulatory guidelines.
• Reviews patient’s medical record and communicates with multidisciplinary team regarding patient’s condition.
• Communicates with OT regarding patient’s performance and changes in condition.
• Prepares and uses equipment for patient care (adaptive devices, gait belts, orthotics, prosthetics, etc.).
• Cleans equipment according to policy; stores equipment appropriately.

Position Summary

Implements Occupational therapy services/treatments for patients under the supervision of an Licensed Occupational Therapist. Maintains appropriate documentation.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Implements patient care in a knowledgeable and skillful manner, maintaining a high quality of work performance in all areas.
• Demonstrates the ability to provide the proper assistance, verbal cueing, and etc. necessary for optimal performance
• Demonstrates the ability to instruct patients and/or caregivers in treatment procedures, home programs and adaptive or special equipment using clear verbal and/or written instructions.
• Effectively and efficiently document patient performance in the medical record per policy and regulatory guidelines.
• Demonstrates the ability to effectively review the patient’s medical record and communicate/collaborate with multidisciplinary team members regarding patient’s condition.
• Effectively communicates with OT regarding patient’s performance, changes in medical condition, goal attainment, etc.
• Demonstrates competence in preparing and use of equipment for patient care (examples: adaptive and assistive devices to include Pt lift devices and Gait Belts, orthotics and prosthetics, oxygen tanks, paraffin, HCP, Braces, Splinting equipment and supplies, etc.)
• Demonstrates ability to clean equipment according to hospital and dept. policy/procedures. Store equipment appropriately.
• Practices effective problem identification/resolution skills as a method of sound decision-making and keeps appropriate people aware of pertinent issues.
• React and respond effectively to stressful/emergency situations by adhering to policies, remaining calm, informing appropriate people and documenting event.
• Demonstrates knowledge and compliance of isolation and biohazard techniques and where to find personal protective equipment.
• Demonstrate competency by the ongoing and continual care of the patient population in Occupational Therapy to include the pediatric, adolescent, adult and elderly patient as evidenced by attached assessment.
• Demonstrates the ability to provide proper assistance and safety when transferring patients, asking for assistance when needed, appropriate uses of pt lift devices and Gait Belts.
