Responsibilities
- Provides skilled interventions in accordance with the physician-approved plan of care and under the supervision of an occupational therapist.
- Documents each visit according to AOTA guidelines and regulatory standards for inclusion in the patient’s clinical record.
- Observes, records, and reports the patient’s response to treatment and any change in condition to the supervising OT, physician, and clinical staff.
- Provides patient/caregiver resources for future ADL/IADL needs.
- Promotes wellness and prevention through occupational engagement.
- Demonstrates knowledge of community resources/services.
- Makes follow-up care recommendations in coordination with the care center.
- Keeps updated on occupational therapy trends and documentation skills.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current license to practice as an occupational therapy assistant in the assigned state.
- Graduate of an ACOTE-accredited occupational therapy assistant program.
- Eligible for or has completed the NBCOT certification exam for occupational therapy assistants.
- At least one year of related occupational therapy assistant experience or approval from regional clinical leaders with mentoring/residency.
- Current CPR certification.
