Job summary

Lowcountry Oncology Associates is seeking an Osteoporosis Patient Care Coordinator (UAP) to support administrative workflows, referrals, and patient flow at the LOA Osteoporosis Center. You will prepare charts, assist with scheduling, and ensure records are complete before appointments, while guiding patients through the process.

This role does not perform clinical duties; you will work closely with providers and staff, handle non-clinical inquiries, coordinate referrals, and maintain patient

Qualifications

  • This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a medical office, healthcare setting, patient coordination, referral coordination, or similar role preferred.
  • Knowledge of healthcare terminology and medical office processes preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with patients, families, providers, and referring offices.
  • CMA certification is preferred but is an optional requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and organize patient charts with all required documentation before provider review.
  • Coordinate new patient referrals including documentation review and scheduling.
  • Obtain missing records (lab, imaging, reports) prior to visits.
  • Room and escort patients to exam areas.
  • Document basic patient measurements (height and weight).
  • Ensure exam rooms and non-clinical materials are ready for providers.
  • Track patient flow and maintain efficient patient experience.
  • Coordinate appointments and relay non-clinical messages to staff.
  • Maintain and update provider schedules and appointment confirmations.
  • Provide patients with scheduling information and testing details.
  • Route clinical questions to the appropriate clinical staff.
  • Receive prescription refill requests and route for review.
  • Assist with referral follow-up and communication between patients and physicians.
  • Assist with obtaining pre-exam lab results per office protocols.
  • Verify demographic, insurance, and scheduling information in the medical record.
  • Assist with scanning and filing patient documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
  • Complete daily operational and safety checklists per OSHA.
  • Perform other administrative tasks to support LOA Osteoporosis Center.
