OSP Network Engineer I (Telecommunications)

What we're seeking:

The OSP Engineer will support project teams with varying responsibilities while developing a baseline knowledge of the telecommunications site development process. Responsibilities include new site development of macro and small cell sites, modification of existing telecommunications facilities, fiber optic networks, and other project types. The role focuses on engineering tower and compound designs, creating fiber optic network plans, and understanding client-specific telecommunications equipment and their usage.

What you'll do:
  • Field information and data from diverse environments such as public rights of way, building interiors, and private campuses.
  • Gather data using digital cameras, observations, notes, GPS-enabled devices, and measuring tools.
  • Utilize technologies and applications, including phone, email, web-based tools, Google Earth, ArcGIS, DCadtel, or equivalents, to compile data and modify plans.
  • Communicate effectively face-to-face to convey information accurately.
  • Provide scheduling, status reports, and coordinate with team members.
  • Perform physical activities such as working in handholes, accessing duct systems, and traversing landscapes to locate and mark underground utilities and poles.
  • Track tasks and prioritize completion.
  • Learn conduit design standards from the client.
  • Read and analyze blueprints, structural drawings, and plans.
  • Evaluate design for constructability.
  • Learn fiber optic specifications, equipment, and usage.

What background you should have:
  • Technical degree or equivalent experience, B.S. preferred
  • Civil/Structural Engineering or Building Construction background preferred
  • 0-3 years' experience in engineering drawing production
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience with engineering drawings for telecommunications sites and fiber networks
  • Telecommunications or utility experience preferred
  • Ability to review site documentation and gather necessary information
  • Valid driver's license to meet with clients as needed
