Job summary

StarTech Networks Inc. is seeking an OSP Field Engineer in Lancaster, CA to perform field surveys and data collection for fiber optic and telecommunications projects.

You will document aerial and underground utilities, validate routes, capture measurements, and ensure all data needed for design and permitting is collected. You will record field notes, create KMZ/KML files, identify issues, and work with project managers and engineers to resolve conflicts.

Qualifications

• Experience in OSP fielding, telecommunications construction, or utility surveying preferred.
• AT&T experience preferred (IFP, ASE, and GPON exposure is a plus).
• Knowledge of Google Earth and ability to create/edit KMZ/KML files is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform field walks to document poles, UG paths, ROW boundaries, and site conditions.
• Capture photos including pole tags, heights, labels, MPOE, handholes, anchors, clearances, obstructions.
• Measure spans, attachment heights, mid-span clearances, and record GPS coordinates.
• Take detailed field notes following OSP Design Principles and maintain accurate route documentation.
• Convert field notes into Google Earth/KMZ format (preferred).
• Identify constructability issues, easements, utility conflicts, and permitting requirements.
• Upload and manage field data using platforms such as KatapultPro or IQ GEO.
• Communicate field findings with project managers and engineering teams.

TheOSPFieldEngineerperformsfieldsurveysandcollectsdatatosupportfiber opticandtelecommunicationsengineeringprojects.Thisroledocumentsexistingaerialandundergroundutilityconditions,validatesroutes,capturesmeasurements,andensuresallinformationrequiredforaccuratedesignandpermittingiscollected.

Key Responsibilities
