JOHN STAURULAKIS INC invites you to join our team as an OSP Designer II on our Fiber Design & Implementation team in our Charlotte, NC office where you'll contribute to broadband and telecommunications initiatives that expand connectivity and drive digital inclusion. This role focuses on planning, designing, documenting, and permitting new outside plant FTTx build-outs.

As an OSP Designer II you will produce high-quality deliverables for buried, underground, and aerial fiber applications,

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of telecom engineering and design experience.
• Working knowledge of GIS, including ArcGIS/QGIS/Google Earth.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD or other CAD-based software.
• Ability to read maps, drawings, and diagrams for telecom/FFTx OSP construction.
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.

Responsibilities

• Reads and understands maps, drawings, and diagrams for Telecom/FFTx OSP construction.
• Creates and reviews fiber assignments (schematics), high-level designs, and low-level designs.
• Communicates with project managers, permitting team, and field personnel to produce deliverables on time and to standards.
• Continuously improves job-related tasks and processes, and professional knowledge.
• Completes other tasks as assigned by manager/supervisor.

Compensation: $30.00 - $33.00 / hour

JSI invites you to join our team as a OSP Designer II on our Fiber Design & Implementation team in our Charlotte, NC office where you'll play a critical role in advancing broadband and telecommunications initiatives that expand connectivity and drive digital inclusion—while advancing your career within a mission-driven, growth-focused organization.

Position Overview:

As an OSP Designer II on the Fiber Design & Implementation team, you will be responsible for planning, designing, documenting, and permitting proposed new outside plant FTTx build-outs. This role will work as a member of the Fiber Design & Implementation team to produce high-quality deliverables for buried, underground, and aerial fiber applications.

Responsibilities

• Reads and understands maps, drawings, and diagrams for Telecom/FFTx OSP construction.
• Creates and reviews fiber assignments (schematics), high-level designs, and low-level designs.
• Communicates with project managers, permitting team, and field personnel to produce accurate deliverables in accordance with deadlines, client expectations, and JSI standards.
• Continuously improves job-related tasks and processes, technical and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.
• Completes other tasks as assigned by manager/supervisor.

Required Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of experience in telecom engineering and design is required.
• Working knowledge of GIS, including ArcGIS/QGIS/Google Earth, etc.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD or other CAD-based software.
• Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for Telecom/FFTx OSP construction.
• Must possess intermediate skills in basic programs like Microsoft Office, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Highly organized, self-starter, and detail-oriented.
• Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
• Superior time management and strong attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• A post-secondary degree in engineering, GIS, or a related field is desired.
