Scottish Rite for Children is looking for an Orthotics and Prosthetics Technician I in Dallas, TX. This full-time role involves fabricating orthoses and prostheses, working with patients from infants to school age. The position requires a high school degree, a certificate in O&P, and skills in fabrication.

The technician will work Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Additional tasks include managing inventory and assisting with patient fittings.

Qualifications

  • Certificate from an ABC recognized O&P school or one year’s applicable technical experience required.
  • Must be able to fabricate all types of orthoses and prostheses.

We're committed to giving children back their childhood!**Job Posting Title:**Orthotics and Prosthetics Technician I**Location:**Dallas - Hospital**Additional Posting Details:**Monday thru Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm**Job Description:**# ****Duties/Responsibilities***** Fabricates orthoses or prosthesis as delegated by the lab supervisor, consistent with department scope of practice.* Create positive plaster molds, strip negative casts, thermoform plastic, cutout, grind and smooth plastic for orthoses or prostheses.* Contour, drill, polish metal work for devices and add closures as requested. Sewing materials as required and assist practitioners on a PRN basis as needed.* Fit patients with shoes or fabricate shoe lifts* Track and order materials for inventory and manage equipment* Cares for and comes in contact with infants, toddlers, preschool, and school age patients* Interface with all clinical and lab staff regarding application of varied techniques to produce the most technically advanced and functional O&P devices.* Contribute to the training of residents and students as assigned* Perform all duties of the production assistant as needed# **Required Skills/Abilities*** High school degree or equivalent required.* Certificate from an ABC recognized O&P school, or a minimum of one year’s applicable technical experience required.* Must have sufficient knowledge and capability to fabricate all types of orthoses or prostheses as directed by the lab supervisor* Must possess excellent interpersonal communication and problem solving skills# # **********Working Environment*********** Working conditions: Inside* Working Position: Sitting, Standing, Walking* Physical Demands: Very Heavy* Physical Requirements: Lifting/Carrying, Pushing/Pulling, Repetitive Movement, & Stooping/Kneeling/Bending* An Individual in this position will be required to list or carry weight in this group: Between 75-100 lbs* Sensory/Communicative activities essential to the performance of this position: Hearing, Seeing, Speaking, Feeling, Smelling* An Individual in this position will be exposed to: Inside environment, Bloodborne Pathogens, Loud noise, Chemical hazards, and Respiratory hazards
