Orthotic Technician

The Orthotic Technician is not certified and provides on-site customer service, assisting certified practitioners with orthotic fitting based on prescribed treatments and recommendations made by the physician. The Orthotic Technician supports Orthotic Fitters as needed and delivers equipment as instructed. The role focuses on helping clients receive the best care, building rapport, supporting, reassuring, and educating clients throughout every interaction.

Job Duties :

1. Supports and collaborates with orthotic practitioners in evaluating and analyzing a patient's need for orthotic services.
2. Under the supervision of a certified practitioner, examines and evaluates patient's needs in relation to disease and functional loss to meet physician prescription.
3. Performs fitting and executes minor modifications under the direct supervision of an Orthotic Fitter or Physician as needed.
4. Assists Orthotic Fitters in evaluating orthotic devices on patients, adjusting to ensure fit, function, medical efficacy, and quality of work.
5. Instructs patients in the use of prescribed devices.
6. Identifies and resolves issues to ensure patient satisfaction with devices provided.
7. Under supervision, carries out treatments utilizing rehabilitation equipment for which adequate instruction has been received, and cares for braces, prostheses, bandages, and other assistive devices as required.
8. Assumes on-call responsibilities during non-business hours in accordance with company policy.
9. Monitors patients over time and makes necessary device adjustments to maintain them in good condition within guidelines.
10. Follows up with patients and physicians as needed.
11. Provides detailed clinical notes to patient records.
12. Complies with all applicable policies, procedures, patient protocols, and current regulations, including CMS, PA Dept. of Health, DOT, FDA, OSHA, and accreditation standards.
13. Enters patient demographic information into the database for insurance and qualification verification.
14. Delivers orthotic equipment on time to various locations.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements :

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• At least one (1) year of experience in customer service within a healthcare setting, medical office, sports rehab, fitness, or retail environment.
• Valid and unrestricted driver's license from the state of residence.
