$1,000 Sign-On Bonus

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Assists physicians and extenders in providing proper medical and clerical support for various orthopedic practice locations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Perform procedures such as wound care, dressings, EKGs, suture/staple removal, orthopedic cast/splint application and removal, injections, vaccines, Botox, phlebotomy for PRP, and ultrasound assistance, following appropriate training and competency documentation.
  2. Coordinate patient care under the supervision of healthcare providers.
  3. Prepare and room patients, document health information, take patient histories, and order radiographs per physician protocols.
  4. Document all details in the electronic health record, review/update allergy, medication, social, medical, surgical histories, and pain screening; may function as a scribe when needed.
  5. Assist in chart management by obtaining reports and reviewing charts for completeness, and scan pertinent outside findings.
  6. Educate patients on wound, pin, cast, and postoperative care according to provider instructions.
  7. Prepare exam rooms, maintain inventory, and ensure supplies are stocked; administer medications if certified and trained, in accordance with policies.
  8. Travel to satellite locations as needed to support physicians.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Proof of graduation from an AHN-approved Medical Assistant School within five years, or relevant athletic training education or experience.
  • Medical Assistant Certification or Athletic Trainer Licensure within 120 days of hire.
  • CPR – American Heart Association
  • Act 34, Act 33, and Act 73 clearances.

Preferred:

  • 3-5 years’ experience as an Orthopedic Technician, Medical Assistant, or Athletic Trainer (ATC).
