Orthopedics Technician I (Medical Assistant / Athletic Trainer) - Coraopolis - Full Time

Join to apply for the Orthopedics Technician I (Medical Assistant / Athletic Trainer) - Coraopolis - Full Time role at Allegheny Health Network.

This position offers a $1,000 Sign-On Bonus for external hires, contingent upon staying with AHN for at least one year. Re-hires must not have worked for AHN within the previous 12 months to qualify.

Job Overview

Assist physicians and extenders in providing medical and clerical support across orthopedic practice locations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform procedures such as wound care, dressings, EKGs, suture/staple removal, application/removal of casts and splints, injections, vaccines, Botox, phlebotomy for PRP, and ultrasound assistance after appropriate training and competency.
  • Coordinate patient care under supervision.
  • Prepare and room patients, document health information, and assist with radiographs per protocols.
  • Accurately document all details in the electronic health record, review and update patient histories, and function as a scribe if trained.
  • Manage pre-visit chart tasks, review diagnostic reports, and facilitate information sharing.
  • Educate patients on wound, pin, cast, and postoperative care as instructed.
  • Prepare exam rooms, maintain inventory, and ensure supplies are stocked. Certified Medical Assistants may administer medications with proper training; Athletic Trainers cannot.
  • Travel to satellite locations as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Proof of graduation from an AHN-approved Medical Assistant School within five years or relevant experience; or graduate from an accredited athletic training program.
  • Medical Assistant Certification or Athletic Trainer Licensure within 120 days of hire.
  • CPR – American Heart Association
  • Background and child abuse clearances (Act 34, Act 33, Act 73 FBI fingerprinting).
Preferred
  • 3-5 years’ experience as an Orthopedic Technician, Medical Assistant, or Athletic Trainer (ATC).
