Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join the Orthopedic Spine Surgery team in the Washington, D.C. metro area, primarily Brandywine, MD, with additional care in Lorton, VA. The Advanced Practice Provider will deliver outpatient clinic care and first-assist in the operating room under Dr.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage new patients.
• Evaluate established and post-operative patients.

• Develop treatment plans and coordinate patient care.
• Provide follow-up care for spine patients.
• First assist in orthopedic spine surgery.
• Work closely with the surgeon in the operating room.
• Support surgical procedures and perioperative patient care.

About The Job

MedStar Medical Group is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Orthopedic Spine Surgery team and work closely with Dr. David A. Weiner, Orthopedic Spine Surgeon.

This full-time opportunity is located in the desirable Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, based primarily in Brandywine, MD, with additional patient care at our Lorton, VA office. Both locations offer the appeal of suburban communities with convenient access to the amenities of the nation's capital.

The Advanced Practice Provider will provide both outpatient clinic care and first-assist support in the operating room.

Position Overview

• Full-time, Monday–Friday
• 8-hour shifts
• No weekends, nights, or holidays
• Primary location: Brandywine, MD
• Additional clinic coverage in Lorton, VA
• Work directly with an experienced Orthopedic Spine Surgeon

Clinical Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage new patients
• Evaluate established and post-operative patients
• Conduct independent clinic visits
• Develop treatment plans and coordinate patient care
• Provide follow-up care for spine patients

Surgical Responsibilities

• First assist in orthopedic spine surgery
• Work closely with Dr. Weiner in the operating room
• Support surgical procedures and perioperative patient care

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
• Current PA or NP certification and licensure
• Orthopedic/spine experience preferred
• NP candidates must have First Assist/RNFA certification
• New graduates with strong orthopedic experience or interest may be consideredStrong clinical assessment, communication, and surgical skills
