Job summary

Trinity Health is seeking an Authorization Specialist to review, analyze and interpret complex medical information, applying coding knowledge to correctly classify and abstract health data. You will collaborate with medical staff and clinical services to ensure timely referrals and accurate authorizations.

The role emphasizes monitoring referrals expirations, verifying insurance updates before procedures, and supporting ongoing authorization and denial workflows.

Qualifications

• Certified Coding Specialist, Accredited Record Technician (or eligible), Registered Record Administrator (or eligible) or LPN with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in an appropriate health care setting.
• Ideally has a background in referrals, denials, and/or authorization processes.
• Working knowledge of ICD-9-CM, CPT & E&M coding conventions as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, analyzes, and interprets complex medical information for correct coding and abstracting of health data.
• Monitors expirations of referrals, verifies insurance updates prior to procedures, and supports authorization and denial processes.
• Works collaboratively with medical staff and other clinical services staff.
