Job summary

Bassett Healthcare Network in rural Central New York seeks a dynamic Service Line Chief of Orthopedics to shape strategy, drive clinical excellence, and expand orthopedic services across the Bassett network.

The role focuses on expanding access, improving outcomes, and growing musculoskeletal programs while maintaining patient-centered care and strong collaboration with executive leadership and affiliated partners.

Qualifications

• MD/DO with board certification in Orthopedic Surgery and NY licensure eligibility.
• At least 7+ years in academic or community orthopedics.
• Minimum 5+ years in leadership roles such as Medical Director or Chief.
• Fellowship in Total Joint strongly preferred.
• MBA/MPH/MHA a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and clinical leadership for Orthopedics and Podiatry across the Bassett system.
• Promote integrated care delivery, improve performance, and drive growth while maintaining patient-centered care.
• Lead development and execution of orthopedic growth strategies and expansion of joint replacement programs.
• Oversee staffing, workflows, and clinical operations to ensure high-quality care.
• Drive quality, safety, and patient experience improvements across sites.
• Lead recruitment, retention, and development of physician workforce.
• Manage financial performance and resource utilization for the service line.
• Ensure alignment with Bassett’s mission and regional market dynamics.
