Orthopedic Surgery Opening in MN

Location: Virginia, MN - 60 miles from Duluth
Position: Full-time, permanent

We are seeking an orthopedic surgeon to join our team to provide regional orthopedic care to a diverse population. The ideal candidate will add expertise in arthroscopy, upper extremity/hand, and basic trauma services to our existing Arthroplasty/Joint programs.

Service Area and Facilities

• Serves the Arrowhead region, a large geographic area of Minnesota extending from Duluth to the Canadian border, including three hospitals, an ambulatory surgery center, eight clinics, and three long-term care facilities.
• The population of the service area is approximately 135,000 people, with the Arrowhead region population of 89,000 and the Itasca Lakes region population of 45,000.

Medical Staff and Practice

• Approximately 55 physicians and 20 advanced practice providers serve the region.
• The medical center includes a 26-member multi-specialty group covering internal medicine, family practice, ENT, anesthesia, dermatology, general surgery, pediatrics, ophthalmology, occupational medicine, OB/GYN, pathology, urology, primary care/sports medicine, and athletic training.
• Existing robust orthopedic practice based in Virginia, serving as a referral base for the surgical orthopedics team.
• Dedicated Orthopedic PA-C onsite.

Hospital and Surgical Services

• Features include private hospital rooms, a Stryker MAKO robotic platform, GE multi-slice CT scanner, and a new 1.5 Tesla MRI.
• Close collaboration with a 15-surgeon Level 1 trauma center in Duluth.
• Flexible call requirements.
• Excellent regional physical and occupational therapy services available on-site and regionally.
