Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or verifiable work experience in a patient care setting) required
• Maintains current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Certification and within 6 months of hire maintains certification from one of: CCMA, CMA, CMAC, NCMA, NRCMA, NRCAMA, RMA (AMT/ARMA/NAHP listings) or other accepted credential

Responsibilities

• Accountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues.
• Supports and demonstrate effective and professional communication with patients and family members
• Works collaboratively with the administrative and operations staff.
• Gathers patient data through interviews and observation.
• Assist patients and families with preparation for examination.
• Assists the physician or APP during examination and procedures.
• Documents, treatments, procedures, and patient education according to Orlando Health policies.
• Assist the physician or APP by scheduling and facilitating specialty testing and physician consultation.
• Processes calls in a professional manner using sound clinical judgment.
• Enter medication, laboratory and diagnostic imaging orders under provider direction.

Education
