Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System in the Kansas City area is seeking a Medical Assistant/LPN for the Orthopedics department, based at the Olathe Medical Pavilion D.

This full-time day shift role involves patient preparation, assisting with procedures, collecting samples, and managing records, with emphasis on service excellence and teamwork.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma, MA experience or graduation or MA certification, and BLS certification within 14 days.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• 1+ year Medical Assistant experience OR graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program OR Medical Assistant Certification (CCMA or NRCMA).
• BLS/CPR certification (AHA) within 14 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Accurately schedules tests, obtains films/reports, and prepares laboratory specimens.
• Assists physicians and/or nurses with procedures as defined on competency checklist.
• Collaborates with health-care team to coordinate patient care and records; may record elements of patient history.
• Electronically submits, calls and/or faxes prescriptions/refills to outpatient pharmacies.
• Maintains medical records and documentation; distributes reports and files forms.
• Maintains exam rooms; stocks supplies and completes required logs and equipment checks.
• Greets patients; handles registration, scheduling, pre-certification of tests/procedures, and insurance processing.
• Performs vital signs, height, weight, and screening procedures.
