Job summary

The Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at UW Health University Hospital is seeking an engaged Orthopedic Surgeon to join the Orthopedic Trauma Section as faculty.

The role includes clinical care at a Level 1 Trauma Center and affiliated hospitals, with daytime care for urgent injuries, OR time, outpatient clinic, and medical student/resident teaching. Academic opportunities include research and potential program development.

Qualifications

• WI medical license by the start date.
• Board-certified or board eligible by the start date.
• Completion of a US Orthopedic Surgery residency and Orthopedic Trauma Association-accredited Fellowship by the start date.
• Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for hospital privileges by start date.
• Experience caring for pediatric trauma patients.
• Experience in an academic medical center environment, and at a Level 1 Trauma Center within the last three years.
• Academic interest demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications and scholarly activity.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical care at Level 1 trauma center and affiliated hospitals with call coverage and dedicated daytime care for urgent/emergent injuries, plus outpatient clinic in partnership with trauma providers.
• Contribute to medical education by teaching residents, medical students and learners.
• Engage in the section's clinical research portfolio and, if desired, develop an individual research program.

Job description

The Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation is seeking an engaged, energetic Orthopedic Surgeon to join the faculty within the Orthopedic Trauma Section.

This faculty position will provide clinical care at UW Health University Hospital (Level 1 Trauma Center) and Unity Point Health – Meriter Hospital (dedicated Geriatric Hip Fracture Program), with additional opportunity to participate in the care of pediatric trauma patients at UW Health American Family Children’s Hospital. Clinical care will include call coverage, dedicated OR time to facilitate timely, daytime care of urgent/emergent injuries, as well as outpatient clinic in partnership with Orthopedic Trauma Advanced Practice Providers.

Medical education is a core component of this position, including teaching and mentorship of residents within our robust Orthopedic Surgery Residency, as well as medical students and other learners.

Further academic opportunity is available through participation in the section’s established clinical research portfolio, as well as the opportunity to develop an individual research program, if desired.
