Job summary

Capital Health in New Jersey is seeking a Physician Assistant to examine, diagnose and treat patients under physician supervision. The PA will prepare casts, suture wounds and interpret tests, prescribing medications as needed.

This role serves as the first line of medical care and coordinates transfers to hospital or clinic as necessary. Education requires graduation from an NCCPA-accredited PA program with at least one year of primary or acute care experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an NCCPA-accredited PA program.
• One year experience in primary or acute care preferred.
• AHA ACLS-Adv Cardiac Life Support, AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider, Physician Assistant License required.

Responsibilities

• Performs histories and physical examinations, daily patient rounds with physicians, and ongoing patient assessments.
• Assists with admission work-ups and consults to facilitate care across the continuum.
• Orders treatments and devices as needed, including therapy and discharge planning.
• Re-evaluates patient conditions and modifies care plans in collaboration with the clinical team.
• Provides age-appropriate care and participates in patient education and consent processes.
• Assists the surgeon during operative cases, including positioning, preparation, and draping as directed.
• Contributes to hospital Quality Improvement efforts and updates patient care standards as needed.
• Maintains aseptic technique and ensures documentation accuracy in the medical record.
