Job summary

Elliot Health System is hiring an Orthopedic Technologist to join our orthopedic team. You will provide direct and indirect orthopedic care, apply, adjust and remove devices, and educate patients and families on device use.

The role supports the operating room, inpatient units and outpatient services. This position requires completion of an orthopedic training program or ASOP certification within 3 months, with prior clinical exposure preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an orthopedic training program or ASOP certification within 3 months.
• Previous clinical experience preferred.
• National Board of Certification of Orthopaedic Technologists or ASOP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect orthopedic care by applying, adjusting, maintaining, and removing orthopedic equipment.
• Instructs patients and families regarding use of equipment, devices and appliances.
• Assists medical staff in the orthopaedic room, inpatient units and/or operating room.
• Accepts telephone orders from physicians within scope of responsibility and Elliot policies.
• Accepts verbal orders only in emergencies.
• Applies fracture braces on written physician orders.
• Assists in daily office functions including exam room turnover, data entry, appointment scheduling and insurance pre-certifications.
• Works with medical staff, office staff, and administration; supports a team approach to patient care.
• Maintains cooperative interdepartmental relationships.
