Job summary

PIH Health is seeking an Orthopedic Technician to rotate between the Back and Front Offices, perform casting and splinting daily, and assist with patient registration and scheduling.

You will handle referrals, maintain accurate records, and help ensure timely, high-quality patient care in a clean, safe environment across PIH Health facilities.

Qualifications

• Infection control principles and aseptic technique are required.
• Ability to apply and remove casts and splints.
• Adaptability and accuracy in a busy clinical setting.
• Strong clinical knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• Solid computer skills, data entry and typing.
• Ability to verify patient insurance, schedule appointments and collect co-pays.
• Familiarity with EHR/PM and record-keeping systems.
• Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Rotate between Back and Front Offices and perform daily casting and splinting tasks.
• Support patient registration, scheduling and insurance verification when not casting.
• Process referrals (including HMO/PPO) and maintain accurate records and notify parties of outcomes.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment to enhance department operations.
• Coordinate with Orthopedic clinics and float as needed to support patient care.

Job description

The Orthopedic Tech works under general supervision to perform a variety of procedures; fills in and performs various patient-oriented job duties; must have knowledge of each job; must keep updated on any changes made within a job position. This employee will work in the Back and Front Office and rotate regularly. Casting and splinting will be daily tasks. When not needed for casting, the Orthopedic Tech will work in the Front Office scheduling appointments and completing patient registration. The Orthopedic Tech may be requested to float between Orthopedic clinics; process all outside referrals including HMO and PPO, maintaining accurate records and notifying all concerned parties of the outcome as required. This employee facilitates the provisions of timely and effective patient care helping to maintain a safe and clean environment in order to enhance department operations.

• Bilingual in Spanish.
• Member of National Association of Orthopedic Technologist (NAOT)
