Job summary

PIH Health is seeking an Orthopedic Technician to support both back and front office tasks in an Orthopedic setting. Daily duties include casting and splinting, patient registration, scheduling, and processing referrals with attention to insurance records and coordination with clinics.

The role requires OTC certification, CPR/BLS, and a valid California Driver’s License, with opportunities to float between Orthopedic clinics as needed to ensure timely patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform casting and splinting as daily tasks.
  • Rotate between Back Office and Front Office responsibilities.
  • Schedule appointments and complete patient registration.
  • Process referrals (HMO/PPO) and maintain accurate records and communications.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment to support department operations.

Job description

The Orthopedic Tech works under general supervision to perform a variety of procedures; fills in and performs various patient-oriented job duties; must have knowledge of each job; must keep updated on any changes made within a job position. This employee will work in the Back and Front Office and rotate regularly. Casting and splinting will be daily tasks. When not needed for casting, the Orthopedic Tech will work in the Front Office scheduling appointments and completing patient registration. The Orthopedic Tech may be requested to float between Orthopedic clinics; process all outside referrals including HMO and PPO, maintaining accurate records and notifying all concerned parties of the outcome as required. This employee facilitates the provisions of timely and effective patient care helping to maintain a safe and clean environment in order to enhance department operations.

Required Experience
Required:
  • Orthopedic Technologist Certified (OTC)
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Valid California Driver’s License
Preferred:
  • 2 years previous experience working in an Orthopedics Practice or Emergency Department.
  • 2 years front and back-office experience.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Member of National Association of Orthopedic Technologist (NAOT)
