Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking an Orthopedic Technician to support physicians and nursing staff in delivering orthopedic care. The role includes maintaining cast equipment, applying and removing plaster casts, and coordinating traction/CPM devices as directed by physicians.

The technician will contribute to patient safety and satisfaction while working within a team to ensure efficient department operations and quality care standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• One year hospital, vocational, military, one-the-job-training or orthopedic clinic experience
• BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA)
• COT - Certified Orthopedic Technician (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Interact with patients, staff and departments to communicate patient care information.
• Assist physicians and nurses with orthopedic devices and traction.
• Prepare patients for orthopedic device applications and measure for braces.
• Operate and maintain orthopedic equipment and casts per physician orders.
• Contribute to patient satisfaction and department score improvements.
