Job summary

Hillcrest HealthCare System in Tulsa, OK seeks an Orthopedic Technician for day shift, full-time. Responsibilities include assisting with casting, applying braces and orthopedic devices, and supporting patient care throughout the visit.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with casting and orthopedic devices as ordered.

• Screen patient calls for the provider and route appropriately.
• Keep cast room, equipment, and supplies organized.

• Utica Park Clinic, founded in 1982, is a multi-specialty medical group with more than 300 employed physicians and advance practice providers representing more than 30 specialties across 82 sites in Oklahoma, serving 21 communities.
• Ortho Tech position performs selected nursing and clerical duties that assist in patient and fracture care management.
• Assists with application of casting and orthopedic devices as ordered by the physician.
• Responsible for maintaining an efficient patient flow, assisting the physician during patient exams and performing all necessary follow-up in a timely and accurate manner while exhibiting quality care.
• Must be knowledgeable of medical terminology, routine office procedures and medical instruments.
• Must be skilled in the application of braces, casts, boots, crutches and other DME.
• Performs all casting techniques to include application, cutting, removal, splinting or replacement of casts.
• Orients patients regarding activity limitations imposed by orthopedic devices.
• Maintains cast room, associated equipment, and supply inventory for these services.
• Gives medications and knows the five rights of medication administration.
• Safely performs post-operative removal of staples and sutures.
• Screens phone calls from patients for the provider.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• Prior experience with the application of braces, casts, boots, crutches and other DME.
