Job summary

Carilion Clinic is seeking a part-time Scribe for Orthopedic Surgery to support physicians by real-time documentation of patient care. The role requires strong typing, medical terminology familiarity, and the ability to navigate EPIC EMR and PACS systems.

You will accompany physicians, transcribe exams, labs, and imaging, and assist in ensuring complete, accurate records for clinical decision-making and billing workflows.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent required.
• 1-2 years of experience working with the public in a healthcare setting.
• Excellent PC, typing and interpersonal and verbal communication skills; familiar with medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Accompanies a physician through patient care, updating the medical record in real time.
• Transcribes physical exam details, labs, imaging, and medications ordered by the physician.
• Reminds physician of data progress and records results in patient charts for complete workups.
• Documents procedures performed by physicians and other clinicians.
• Masters the use of EPIC EMR and PACS imaging system.
