Job summary

Yale New Haven Health System is seeking a qualified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our orthopedic team. The role includes clinical care, patient education, and participation in call rotations in a high-acuity setting. Strong credentialing and active PA certification are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
• APRNs, PAs, CRNAs, and CNMs must be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff of a YNHHS hospital and go through the Medical Staff credentialing process.
• Active PA Certification by the NCCPA, Connecticut State PA License, ACLS/BLS Certified, when indicated for position profile DEA License.
• PALS, when indicated for neonatal care.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Care – The NP/PA provides assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient/family needs as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Patient Education & Psychosocial Support – Educate patients/families on care and resources; collaborate with supervising MD on discharge plan.
• Information Management – Documentation per hospital/regulatory requirements.
• Quality Management – Maintain professional standards, report safety events, and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Professional Development – Engage in projects, mentor students, and contribute to protocols and quality improvement.
