Job description

Orthopedic Surgeon (General)

Hudson Valley, NY | Hospital-Employed | Strong Volume + Lifestyle Balance

A community-focused healthcare system in the Hudson Valley region of New York is actively recruiting a General Orthopedic Surgeon to join its established Bone & Joint team. This opportunity is driven by an upcoming retirement, creating a built-in patient base and immediate surgical demand for an incoming provider.

This is an ideal role for a surgeon seeking a busy, bread-and-butter orthopedic practice with the ability to step into an existing referral network while maintaining a strong work-life balance in a highly desirable region.

Position Overview:
  • Job Title: General Orthopedic Surgeon
  • Employment Type: Full-time, employed
  • Practice Setting: Hospital-employed with outpatient clinic support
  • Location: Hudson Valley, NY
  • Call Schedule: Shared, light-to-moderate
Opportunity Highlights:
  • Turnkey Practice: Step into an established patient panel due to a retiring surgeon
  • Consistent Surgical Volume: Mix of elective and acute cases from a strong referral base
  • Broad Scope: Bread-and-butter general orthopedics including:
    • Joint replacements (hip, knee, shoulder preferred but not required)
    • Fracture care and orthopedic trauma
    • Sports injuries and degenerative conditions
  • OR Access: Dedicated block time and efficient surgical support
  • Collaborative Team: Work alongside experienced orthopedists and APP support
  • Tertiary Backup: Access to subspecialty support for complex cases
Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and treat a wide range of orthopedic conditions
  • Perform surgical and non-surgical interventions
  • Participate in shared call coverage
  • Collaborate with primary care, ED, and rehab teams
  • Maintain high-quality, patient-centered care standards
Qualifications:
  • MD or DO
  • Board-Certified / Board-Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
  • Eligible for New York State medical license
  • Strong interest in general orthopedics and community-based practice
Compensation & Benefits:
  • $480,000 – $650,000 base salary + production incentives
  • Full benefits package (health, dental, vision, malpractice, retirement)
  • CME allowance + time off
  • Relocation assistance available
Lifestyle & Location:

Located in the Hudson Valley, this area offers:

  • Access to outdoor recreation (hiking, skiing, boating)
  • A vibrant arts and culinary scene
  • Affordable living compared to metro markets
  • Easy access to Albany, NYC, and the Berkshires
Why This Opportunity Stands Out:

This is not a slow ramp-up role. With a pending retirement, the incoming surgeon will walk into immediate demand, strong referral patterns, and the ability to build a high-volume practice quickly—all within a supportive, well-run system that prioritizes both clinical quality and physician lifestyle.
