Job summary

Texas Regional Physicians in Houston is seeking a Surgical Physician Assistant to support orthopedic spine operations and clinic care. The role involves assisting surgeons in the OR, performing first assist duties, and providing postoperative patient management in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

The ideal candidate will have PA education, Texas license, NCCPA, and relevant spine experience; BLS/ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

• PA Studies completed from an accredited program.
• Texas license to practice as a PA.
• NCCPA certification is required.
• Preferred: experience in orthopedic spine surgery (clinic and OR).
• BLS and ACLS certifications required or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assist orthopedic spine surgeon in the operating room, including pre- and post-operative care.
• Perform first assist duties: tissue handling, suturing, instrumentation.
• Ensure sterile instruments and functioning equipment; monitor patient vitals during procedures.
• Conduct patient assessments in clinic and assist with diagnostics and imaging reviews.
• Provide patient education on treatment plans, surgical options, and postoperative care.
• Maintain accurate EMR records and coordinate care plans with the team.
• Participate in continuing education to stay current with spine care practices.
