Job summary

Atrius Health is seeking an experienced Orthopedic Physician Assistant to join a collaborative surgical team. You will assess, diagnose, and treat patients requiring sub-specialty orthopedic care with in-house support for planning and executing treatment in a multi-disciplinary setting.

The role emphasizes hands-on OR experience 1-2 days per week at affiliated centers, a 4-day work week, and no on-call or weekend requirements.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant degree program.
• Currently or eligible for board certification by the NCCPA.
• Active and unrestricted APC license in the State of Massachusetts.
• Graduate of a State-approved school of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner program.
• Possess a current license to practice as a professional nurse in Massachusetts with expanded role authorization.
• Nurse Practitioners must have 1st assist certification (CSFA).
• Mass DPH Controlled Substances Registration or able to obtain post-hire.
• DEA licensure/prescriptive authority or able to obtain post-hire.
• Maintains BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs physical assessments on orthopedic patients and triages to appropriate specialists.
• Develops and implements plans of care, may prescribe medications/exercises.
• Performs minor operative procedures including suturing and casting.
• Collaborates with physicians, orders/tests, and maintains continuity of care with other health agencies.
• Liaises between primary care providers and specialists for patient care.
• Teaches and counsels patients and communities on health needs; participates in health education programs.
• First assist in operating room for total joint cases.
