Job summary

Atrius Health, part of the Optum family, is seeking a Specialty Physician Assistant to join a collaborative orthopedic team. You will assess, diagnose and treat patients with sub-specialty orthopedic needs, support physicians in complex communications, and educate patients in areas of specialization.

Responsibilities include clinical assessments, minor operative procedures, pre/post operative care, and interdepartmental coordination.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant degree program.
• Currently or eligible for NCCPA board certification.
• Active MA APC license and expanded role authorization.
• Graduate of a State-approved Nurse Practitioner program; RN license in MA.
• CSFA Surgical First Assistant Certification.
• Mass DPH CS Registration or ability to obtain post-hire; DEA licensure or ability to obtain.
• Maintains BLS certification and applicable professional certifications.

Responsibilities

• Performs physical assessments on orthopedic patients and triages urgent issues.
• Performs minor operative procedures including suturing and injections; cast application proficiency.
• Collaborates with physicians to manage patient care and may order/interpret labs.
• Liaises between primary care and specialists to coordinate care.
• Educates patients and communities on health needs and preventive care.
• Participates in operating room support for total joint cases.
