Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion, IA is seeking an Orthopedic Nurse Coordinator (full-time) to guide total joint and spine patient care from pre-operative education through post-discharge, coordinating with surgeons, therapists, nursing staff, patients, families and administrative teams to ensure a smooth surgical experience and optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• RN License required.
• Experience in orthopedics, surgery, or care coordination preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team.
• Total joint/spine knowledge or accreditation/quality initiatives is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care from pre-operative education and scheduling to post-operative follow-up.
• Serve as the primary communication link among patients, families, physicians, therapists, nursing staff, and administration.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, clinical meetings, and committees.
• Conduct patient follow-up calls after discharge.
• Respond to questions, provide guidance, and document communications in the EMR.
• Ensure patients are prepared for surgery and assist with pre-operative education classes.
• Serve as a resource for orthopedic patient care and assist with problem-solving.

Orthopedic Nurse Coordinator

Clarion

The Orthopedic Coordinator facilitates coordinated, efficient, and patient-centered care for total joint and spine orthopedic patients throughout the continuum of care. This position works closely with orthopedic surgeons, hospitalists, physical therapists, nursing staff, patients, families, and administrative teams to ensure a seamless surgical experience and excellent patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care from pre-operative education and surgical scheduling through post-operative follow-up.
• Serve as the primary communication link between patients, families, physicians, therapists, nursing staff, and administrative teams.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, clinical meetings, and committees.
