Job summary

Midland Health seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to deliver comprehensive orthopedic care in collaboration with an orthopedic surgeon. The APP will assist in the operating room, manage inpatient and outpatient care, and educate patients per policy and standards.

Requirements include TX PA/APRN licensure, national certification, BLS, ACLS (or ability to obtain), and experience in orthopedic/sports trauma.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
• Master's degree or higher and licensed as PA/APRN in Texas.
• Current TX PA/APRN licensure.
• Current national certification as PA or NP.
• Current BLS certification.
• ACLS certification or ability to obtain within timeframe.
• Orthopedic, surgical, sports medicine, trauma, or first assist experience preferred.
• Experience with EHR systems.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with supervising orthopedic surgeon and multidisciplinary team.
• Assist surgeon in OR as First Assist.
• Perform pre- and post-operative patient evaluations and assessments.
• Conduct daily inpatient rounds and communicate treatment plans.
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat orthopedic conditions.
• Order and interpret labs, imaging, and tests.
• Develop and implement treatment plans including meds, injections, casts, rehab.
• Document postoperative visits and wound care.
• Coordinate patient care across settings.
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, plans, and recovery.
• Ensure timely medical documentation in EHR.
• Assist with call coverage and orthopedic consults.
• Collaborate with clinic staff and departments to ensure continuity of care.
