Job summary

OrthoVirginia Inc. is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide inpatient orthopedic consult coverage in a hospital-based practice.

The role focuses on evaluating consults, coordinating care, and partnering with the on-call surgeon to ensure timely management. The position offers a Monday through Friday schedule (7:00 AM–4:30 PM) with no routine late-night duties, and welcomes experienced providers and new graduates, with mentorship and development opportunities

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current Virginia licensure or eligibility.
• DEA certification (or ability to obtain).
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and assess orthopedic consults throughout the hospital.
• Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, and review diagnostic studies.
• Present clinical findings, assessments, and treatment recommendations to the orthopedic surgeon on call.
• Collaborate with the orthopedic surgery team to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Document patient encounters accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, case management, therapists, and other team members.
• Assist with patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
• Participate in quality patient care initiatives and departmental activities.
