Job summary

Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Clearwater, FL is seeking an Orthopedic Technician to measure, fit and dispense braces and casts as directed by physicians. You will document in Athena EMR and Empower Inventory, maintain stock, and support the team to keep clinic flow smooth.

Requirements include a BS degree preferred and 1–2 years in a medical setting, excellent communication, and proficiency with MS Word, Excel and EMR systems.

Qualifications

• BS Degree preferred or higher.
• Preferably 1–2 years in medical field.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Computer proficiency: MS Word, Excel, EMR systems.
• Meet expectations of internal and external customers with excellent service.
• Ability to perform tasks independently with direction from DME manager.
• Willing to perform other duties and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Enjoy working as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Applies and educates patients on DME/bracing to protect or prevent injuries as ordered by the physician.
• Applies and educates patients on bandages, casts, and splints to protect or prevent injuries as ordered by the physician.
• Answers patient calls regarding questions or concerns with casts, splints, or DME.
• Documents in Athena and Empower on all cast and DME patients and items dispensed.
• Maintains the cast room clean and sanitary; wipes surfaces after each patient.
• Ensures casting and DME supplies are adequately ordered and stocked; reports stock issues.
• Receives DME and supply orders and attaches packing slips to purchase orders.
• Promotes teamwork and attends staff meetings with DME Manager and Supervisors.
• Represents FOI with pride and fosters positive interpersonal relations.
• Hours: Mon-Fri, 8-hour shifts; overtime on Saturdays when available.
• Complies with all FOI plans, policies and procedures; performs all other duties.
