Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a Staff Nurse for the North Liberty Hospital Orthopedic Clinic. You will assess nursing needs, lead the nursing team, and coordinate care across settings while developing and implementing patient care plans.

Responsibilities include documenting interventions, collaborating with families and the care team, and coordinating discharge planning. A current Iowa nursing license is required; BSN/MSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team.
• General computer skills are required.
• Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' nursing care needs and evaluate effectiveness of care provided.
• Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings.
• Develops patient care plans based on patient condition and factors.
• Implements care plans and documents interventions and patient/family response.
• Collaborates with patients and families in the multidisciplinary care plan.
• Coordinates transfer and discharge planning throughout the episode of care.
• Follows department policies to maintain a safe environment.
