Job summary

Valley Health System is seeking a nurse leader for the Orthopaedics department to supervise clinical operations, coordinate staffing, and ensure high standards of patient care. The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, staff mentoring, and cross-department collaboration.

Qualified applicants have an RN license, BSN within two years, and at least two years of nursing experience in the relevant scope. BLS certification is required, with specialty certification within one year of hire.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse program is required.
• BSN must be obtained within two years of hire.
• Minimum of two years of nursing experience in the assigned scope.
• Current RN licensure for Virginia/West Virginia or multi-state license under the Nurse Licensure Compact.
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association Healthcare Provider) required.
• Certification in clinical specialty within the scope of services/responsibility within 1 year of hire with BSN.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates patient placement on nursing unit and manages room assignments.
• Adjusts staffing up/down using unit guidelines and ensures proper documentation.
• Serves as clinical resource and promotes evidence-based practice.
• Provides direct patient care when needed due to acuity or staffing changes.
• Acts as liaison between physicians and hospital departments for smooth unit operations.
• Strives for outstanding patient experience and satisfaction within targets.
• Ensures unit staff comply with safety and regulatory requirements.
• Participates in performance improvement and risk management activities.
