Job summary

National Sports Medicine Institute in Lansdowne, VA, seeks a Certified Athletic Trainer to deliver autonomous orthopedic sports medicine care with high professionalism. You will manage vitals, documentation, and coordinate imaging, therapy, and DME while educating patients and supporting clinic operations.

In-person role, 40 hours/week, no weekends, with locations in Lansdowne and Aldie. Requires BOC certification, VA license eligibility, and CPR/BLS; prior EHR experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in athletic training or related field.
  • BOC Certified Athletic Trainer in good standing.
  • Current Virginia state license or eligibility to obtain.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • 1 year in a medical office or clinical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and document patient vitals and medical history.
  • Present patient cases to providers with clear, concise communication.
  • Apply and manage casts, splints, and braces as indicated.
  • Educate patients on injuries, rehab plans, and exercise programs.
  • Instruct on proper use of durable medical equipment and post-op protocols.
  • Assist providers during routine procedures including injections and sutures.
  • Coordinate orders for imaging, therapy, labs and related services.
  • Communicate with insurers to obtain authorization for services.
  • Develop work/activity restrictions based on assessments.
  • Complete patient documentation including FMLA and disability forms.
  • Support clinic operations and participate in special projects.
  • Collaborate with MDs, PAs, therapists and coordinators to ensure positive experiences.
  • Modify therapeutic exercises based on injury and goals.
  • Assist in return-to-sport planning and progression.
