Intermountain Health in Provo, Utah, seeks a Clinic Athletic Trainer to join a Hand & Wrist Surgery team in an outpatient setting. You will collaborate with surgeons, therapists, and caregivers to educate patients and guide rehabilitation throughout the treatment journey.

Under the direction of a Sports Medicine Physician, you will evaluate injuries, design rehab programs, monitor progress, and coordinate care.

Qualifications

  • Current license as an Athletic Trainer in state of practice.
  • National Athletic Trainer Certification.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.
  • Experience with computer programs including databases, word processing, and internet.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients to determine modifications of therapy in consultation with physician.
  • Develop rehabilitation programs addressing short and long-term goals.
  • Demonstrate and help patients execute prescribed therapeutic exercises per physician protocols.
  • Monitor patient response to treatment.
  • Educate patients regarding rehabilitation, health needs, injuries, diagnosis, prognosis and risks.
  • Coordinate care with other patient care providers as appropriate.
  • Complete appropriate documentation including reports, treatments, intake forms, and logs.
  • Maintain and inspect equipment; report repairs as needed.
  • Engage in marketing and community educational programs.
  • Attend to patient questions/messages for physician.
  • Perform duties including casting, splinting, brace fitting, wound care, vitals, and basic medication administration; conduct testing for illnesses as needed.
  • Assist with procedures and concussion treatments.
  • Process paperwork and obtain prior authorizations when needed.
  • Assist outreach ATCs as needed when supervision is documented.

Job Description:Under the direction of a Sports Medicine Physician, the Athletic Trainer will assist in evaluation and treatment of all musculoskeletal injuries and sports related injuries.Join our orthopedic team as a Clinic Athletic Trainer supporting our Hand & Wrist Surgery specialists. In this collaborative outpatient setting, you'll work closely with surgeons, therapists, and other caregivers to provide patient education, clinical support, care coordination, and rehabilitation guidance throughout the treatment journey. This is an excellent opportunity for an athletic trainer who is passionate about musculoskeletal care and enjoys building strong relationships with patients while contributing to exceptional orthopedic outcomes.Essential FunctionsPractices as physician extender under a directing physician in accordance with state practice act.Assesses patients to determine modifications of therapy and treatment needs in consultation with physician or other clinicians.Develops rehabilitation programs that appropriately addresses patient's short and long term goals.Demonstrate and help patients execute prescribed therapeutic exercises per physician protocolsMonitors patient's response to treatment.Educates patients regarding rehabilitation programs, health needs, injuries, diagnosis, prognosis and risks.Coordinates care with other patient care providers as appropriate.Completes appropriate documentation including reports, treatments, intake forms, message logs etc.Cleans, maintains, and inspects all necessary (can include room, ultrasound machine, ECG, PRP, exercise) equipment. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
