Job summary

The Hughston Clinic in Georgia seeks a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to assist in patient care under a physician in orthopaedics. Responsibilities include taking patient histories, performing exams, diagnosing injuries, and providing treatments such as injections and wound care.

Qualified candidates should hold a Master’s degree from a regionally accredited PA/NP program, NCCPA or NP board certification, BLS, current state license, and DEA.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited PA or NP program.
• NCCPA Board Certification or NP Board certification.
• Current State License and DEA registration required.
• BLS certification.
• One year experience in orthopaedics preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintains patient health by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician.
• Obtain a detailed patient history and record appropriate findings in the patient records.
• Complete a systematic and thorough physical examination. Make diagnoses concerning a patient’s injury or illness. Give treatment such as setting broken bones.
• Prescribe medicine when needed. Performs salutary procedures by administering injections and managing wounds and infections.
• Order, perform, interpret and schedule, when appropriate, diagnostic studies.
• Provide counseling on health habits, exercise, tobacco, and alcohol.
• Provide instruction on supervising physician’s orders: (a) diet, (b) physical therapy and (c) use of physical adjuncts to therapy.
• Assist supervising physician in management of hospitalized patients; transfer data to office records when appropriate; arrange post hospitalization follow-up care; assist in surgery and rounds when appropriate.
• Maintains patient confidentiality (HIPAA).
• The supervising physician and P.A. or NP are expected to understand and comply with current laws, rules and regulations governing PA/NP practice.
