Job summary

U.S Air Force is seeking an Orthopaedic Surgeon to examine, diagnose and treat musculoskeletal disorders and injuries. You will review histories, interpret tests and plan pre/postoperative care, while managing surgical service plans.

The role includes instructing interns/residents and serving as a consultant on orthopedic issues, with training at Officer Training School and required military standards. Maxwell AFB, AL, is the training location.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an approved school of medicine or osteopathic medicine.
• Completion of a residency or fellowship in orthopedic surgery.
• Completion of Officer Training School course.
• Must be between the ages of 18 and have not reached your 48th birthday.

Responsibilities

• Examine, diagnose and treat diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system
• Review case histories and data, examine patients, interpret test results and evaluate examination findings
• Determine procedures for pre- and postoperative care
• Treat patients suffering from surgical shock, postoperative hemorrhage and other complications
• Manage and formulate plans and procedures for orthopaedic surgery services
• Instruct interns and residents and serve as a consultant on orthopedic issues

Education

Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree

Residency or fellowship in orthopedic surgery
