Job summary

Orthopaedic Associates of Maine in Portland, ME is seeking an Athletic Trainer or Orthopaedic Technologist to support musculoskeletal care. You will work alongside renowned orthopaedic physicians, assisting with patient intake, triage, and hands-on rehab.

Responsibilities include applying casts and braces, injury prevention education, documenting in the EHR, and ensuring smooth clinic flow. Eligible candidates hold BOC or NBCOT certifications and Maine licensure, with BLS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training; BOC certification required; NBCOT certification required within 2 years.
• Current Maine Licensure; BLS certification required.
• Experience in orthopedic injury evaluation and patient care.
• Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a high-energy environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient intake—rooming, vital signs, and obtaining medical history.
• Triage and assess patients, coordinating care with physicians & APPs.
• Provide patient education on injury prevention, rehabilitation, pre/post-op care, and wellness.
• Apply casts, splints, braces, and DME to support recovery.
• Train patients on device use and gait techniques.
• Assist with in-office procedures and ensure efficient patient flow.
• Document patient interactions accurately in the EHR.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and clinic staff.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold patient care and safety standards.
