Job Description:

The Orthopaedic Navigator serves as a patient advocate, liaison, and educator to guide patients throughout their surgical journey, from pre-operative preparation to one year post-operatively. The role aims to mitigate risks and promote positive outcomes through building relationships with patients, families, and clinical teams, ensuring smooth transitions across the continuum of care.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree in a related healthcare profession.
  • Current clinical licensure required.
Experience
  • 5-10 years providing direct orthopaedic care in related health professions such as physical therapy or nursing.
Licensure, Certification, Registration
  • Current Connecticut licensed RN, PT, or OT.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
Language Skills
  • Excellent consultative, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Preferred Requirements
Education
  • Master’s degree preferred.
Experience
  • More than five years of experience in orthopaedic care profession.
Licensure, Certification, Registration
  • Orthopaedic certification preferred for RNs.
  • Orthopaedic experience of 5-10 years for PTs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Effective communication skills: verbal, written, and public speaking.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with patients, families, physicians, and staff.
  • Critical thinking and decisive judgment within scope of practice.
  • Deep understanding of the orthopaedic perioperative continuum of care, including rehabilitation best practices.
  • Knowledge of clinical providers.
  • Ability to identify problems and develop solutions to mitigate risks and optimize care plans.
  • Ability to work effectively cross-functionally.
  • Computer literacy and experience managing databases.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Professionalism, proactivity, and responsiveness to patient, staff, and physician needs.
