Job summary

Peninsula Orthopaedic Associates is seeking an Orthopaedic Assistant to provide direct patient care and support physicians in the clinic. The OA acts as a patient/doctor liaison and helps with scheduling, injections, casts, and EMR orders.

Ideal candidates hold Athletic Training License, CMA, or LPN license with prior medical office or hospital experience; orthopedic exposure is a plus. Commitment to HIPAA, OSHA, and clinic protocols is essential.

Qualifications

• Follow OSHA, IT policy and patient safety standards.
• Experience in medical office or hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor clinic schedule and anticipate patient needs to keep physicians on schedule.
• Draw up injections.
• Remove staples and stitches.
• Apply/remove casts and splints.
• Generate orders in EMR for testing, prescriptions, referrals, and DME.
• Follow clinic/patient care protocols and triage calls.
• Return patient calls promptly.
• Document patient charts accurately.
• Other duties as assigned

Job description

Peninsula Orthopaedic Associates is currently looking for a dynamic individual to join our team as an Orthopaedic Assistant (OA). The OA is responsible for providing direct patient care and assistance to the physician and provides support within the clinic as a patient/doctor liaison.

Qualifications

• The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining confidential any and all information; including Protected Health Information (PHI), accessible while performing job duties.
• Additionally, the preferred candidate will stay in compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, IT Policy, patient safety standards and all other POA requirements.
• The qualified candidate will have an Athletic Training License, Certified Medical Assistant, or LPN license with previous experience in a medical office or hospital setting.
• Orthopeadic experience is a plus, but not required.
  

Job Responsibilities

• Monitor physicians' clinic schedule, anticipate patient’s needs to help physicians stay on schedule
• Draw up injections
• Remove staples/stitches

• Generate accurate and complete orders in EMR for diagnostic testing, prescriptions, referrals and DME

• Evaluate patient needs and triage calls for level of urgency
