The Orthodontic Assistant supports the Orthodontist in patient care, chairside assistance, and treatment of dental misalignments. The role involves executing treatment plans with patients and their families.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  1. Assist the Orthodontist during procedures, ensuring all necessary tools are available.
  2. Meet with patients to discuss their braces experience and address any issues.
  3. Clean, sterilize, and set up instruments and appliances.
  4. Prepare tooth impressions and assist in attaching brackets, bands, and wires.
  5. Manage office duties such as maintaining patient records, ordering supplies, answering phones, and scheduling appointments.
  6. Maintain confidentiality and comply with all relevant laws and guidelines, including HIPAA.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Attention to detail and familiarity with orthodontic software, particularly Cloud9.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures.
  • Experience with taking impressions and digital scans; proficiency with ITero or similar scanners is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of dental or orthodontic assisting experience preferred.
  • State-required certifications to work as an orthodontic assistant.
  • Certifications to take radiographs (e.g., DANB RHS).
  • Current CPR certification.
