Job summary

Specialty Dental Brands seeks an Orthodontic Assistant to support the orthodontist and clinical team in delivering efficient, safe patient care.

You will assist with treatments, manage instruments, sterilize, take impressions and X-rays, maintain records in the EHR/PMS, and help educate patients about retainers and braces.

Strong manual dexterity, good communication, and HIPAA compliance are essential, with 1–2 years of orthodontic assisting experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; accredited orthodontic assisting program preferred.
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience as an orthodontic assistant.
• Knowledge of orthodontic procedures, appliances, and terminology.
• Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and the orthodontic team.
• HIPAA privacy and patient confidentiality adherence.

Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during treatments, including braces placement and removal.
• Prepare patients for procedures and explain steps.
• Sterilize and organize instruments and materials per infection control protocols.
• Take impressions and diagnostic X-rays as required.
• Update patient records in the EHR/PMS and track treatment progress.
• Educate patients on retainer care and follow-up visits.
• Maintain clean, stocked clinical areas and monitor supplies.
