Job summary

Specialty Dental Brands is seeking an Orthodontic Assistant to support the orthodontist and clinical team in Sandy, UT. You will assist with braces placement/removal, impressions, wires adjustments, and elastics while maintaining a clean, organized, and patient-focused environment.

You will ensure patient comfort, explain procedures, and help with post-treatment instructions, inventory, and record-keeping, contributing to a positive patient experience and high-quality care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; accredited orthodontic assisting program preferred.
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience as an orthodontic assistant or dental assistant, preferably with orthodontic focus.
• Knowledge of orthodontic procedures, appliances, and terminology.
• Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during treatments, placing/removing braces, taking impressions, adjusting wires, and applying/removing elastics.
• Ensure patient comfort and respond to patient needs throughout procedures.
• Prepare patients for orthodontic treatments and explain procedures.
• Maintain proper positioning and have instruments/materials ready for efficient treatment.
• Sterilize/prepare instruments and equipment per infection control protocols.
• Keep treatment rooms clean, organized, and well-stocked.
• Take diagnostic X-rays, panoramic images, or digital scans as needed.
• Update patient records and X-ray results in the EHR/PMS.
